MATERIAL
We engage in our creative work while continuously conducting research and prototyping with a variety of materials every day. Understanding the characteristics of each material will allow you to enjoy our items for longer.
We would like to introduce the special materials used in EMISSION products.
Prism Ray®
This is a special polycarbonate resin that produces the light, transparent colors and brilliance of a prism. Because it is extremely thin and lightweight, it allows for the manufacture of items that cannot be achieved with glass or acrylic, such as voluminous chandeliers and lighting, delicate sculptures, and comfortable-to-wear jewelry.
Although it is a rare material in design products due to the difficulty of processing and its high cost, at EMISSION, we take our time to turn it into products using our own know-how and patented technology*.
It features special grooves with a prism structure; when sunlight passes through, the light refracts to create prismatic colors in the space. Furthermore, since its main component is polycarbonate, it has high weather resistance and will not discolor.
Please note that as it is a delicate material, it may deform if strong force is applied, or scratches may occur due to friction. Please handle it with great care and enjoy the work.
*Patent No. 6970999 "Method for manufacturing decorative body and decorative body"

Quartz Glass
This is an extremely rare and special glass manufactured in Japan from quartz (silicon dioxide, SiO2). It has higher transparency than standard high-transmission glass or optical glass, and unlike crystal glass, it contains no lead, making it a material with the charm of high-purity transparency like spring water and a delicate, pristine brilliance.
Furthermore, even in thick blocks, it shows no color or cloudiness, and transmitted objects do not appear refracted. Since it is used for semiconductors and optical products, one of its features is that it contains no air bubbles.
Due to its excellent hardness, it is highly difficult to polish and is extremely hard to obtain; however, at EMISSION, by partnering with a quartz glass factory, we take the time to procure, select, and polish each piece from solid quartz glass blocks, creating a one-of-a-kind texture.
*While it is a material with very high hardness, it may break due to strong impacts such as being dropped, so please handle it with great care and enjoy the work.

[Materials and Handling Precautions]
| Prism Ray® |
Because Prism Ray® is a delicate material, it may deform if strong force is applied or scratches may occur due to friction. Please avoid applying excessive stress. |
| Quartz Glass |
Although it is a material with high strength among types of glass, please handle it with sufficient care to avoid collisions with other glass or hard objects. |
| Zirconia | This is a French-made artificial stone from DARROZ. It possesses the same resistance, hardness, and composition as natural stones and is a product that has earned consistent trust in fields such as watch manufacturing. It may come loose from its setting if used under strong impact or rapid temperature changes. |
| Silver | We use SILVER925 for the fittings of some products. SILVER925 is made by adding 7.5% of metal, known as an alloy agent, to 92.5% silver to increase its strength. Darkening may occur over time. Wiping away dirt with a jewelry-specific cleaner after use will help maintain its brilliance for longer. |
| Brass | We use brass (an alloy made of copper and zinc) in some products. Because it contains 20% or more zinc, it is characterized by a unique golden color. Due to aging, it will gradually change to a duller hue. You can enjoy that character, or polish it with a cream specifically for brass to restore its original color. |
